Concept Car of the Week: Lincoln Indianapolis Boano Coupé (1955)
Fri, 23 Aug 2013There is always a plethora of wonderful cars on display during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and also some not so wonderful, like the Spyker B6 Venator and Laraki Epitome. This year, one of the cars stood out with its bright orange color and unusual styling – the Lincoln Indianapolis Boano Coupé. In 1953, after nine years spent leading the famous Carrozzeria Ghia, Felice Mario Boano left to focus on his own enterprise: Carrozzeria Boano.
Gordon Murray Design T27 crash tested
Wed, 19 Jan 2011The original Smart car probably did more than its fair share to persuade us that small cars needn't necessarily be unsafe. But now Gordon Murray is on the same mission: to persuade us that his titchy T27 city car is as safe as houses too. The crash test in question was the European-standard 40% offset deformable barrier front high-speed impact.
SEAT SUV confirmed for 2016
Wed, 26 Mar 2014SEAT Compact SUV gets a green light for 2016 (SEAT IBX Concept pictured) SEAT has been threatening to build a compact SUV for years, and back in 2011 it revealed the IBX Concept (pictured above) which was the SEAT take on the Audi Q3. Now, finally, it seems VW has signed-off on SEAT’s compact SUV and the new compact SUV will hit the market in 2016, hopefully giving SEAT’s poor sales a real boost. Expected to be based on the VW MQB platform, the SEAT SUV should enable SEAT to properly compete in Europe and tap in to a market that has grown by 40 per cent in the last few years whilst SEAT’s existing market for its cars has shrunk and been compromised by a weak economy in Europe where the vast majority of SEAT’s sales are made.
