JEEP XJ CHEROKEE DANA 30 OUTER AXLE SHAFT PART NUMBER 40611 WITH NUT/RETAINER AND U-JOINT 5-260X NEW ORIGINAL OEM DANA SPICER PARTS A 40611 Outer axle shaft was used in Disconnect Dana 30 front in 1987 1/2 to1988 XJ Cherokee Bill of Material number 610279 and in a Non Disconnect Dana 30 Front in 1990-1991 Bill of Material number 610318. For some unknown reason Jeep used a smaller U Joint in these years and Model of XJ Jeeps. In these years Jeep used a 5-260X U Joint which is a smaller U Joint with smaller diameter caps. The cap diameter on a 5-260X are 1.062 inches. The cap diameter on a 5-760X, the bigger U Joint used in all the rest of the Dana 30 and Dana 44 front axles with U Joints is 1.19 inches. If you don't have your Bill of Material number, the next best way to check and see if you have the smaller U Joint is by measuring the cap diameter.
When measuring front axle shafts, all measurements should be taken from center of U-Joint to end of the spline. Aston Martin CC100 Speedster concept
Mon, 20 May 2013The Aston Martin CC100 Speedster concept has been built to celebrate the centenary of the British brand at the Nürburgring 24 Hour race. Apparently inspired by the beautiful 1959 DBR1 racecar, the CC100 apparently also gives some clues as to Aston's upcoming design language, particularly around the grille, with its prominent insert and the treatment of the side strake, which here becomes a more integral part of the wheel arch and fender. The car was designed in Aston Martin's studio in Gaydon, with its bodywork the responsibility of chief exterior designer Miles Nurnburger.
Mitsubishi revamps U.S. strategy
Mon, 24 Jan 2011Mitsubishi plans a different U.S. model lineup and a new production strategy for its assembly plant in Normal, Ill., as it shifts emphasis away from regionally focused vehicles to global small cars, hybrids and electrics. Shinichi Kurihara, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, says the company will launch four new models in the United States within three years, as four slow-selling U.S.-built vehicles are phased out of production by 2014.
BMW M3 coupe gets stripped down to go club racing
Thu, 05 Nov 2009BMW's M division is back in the business of building specialty street-legal race cars with a new lightweight version of the M3 called the GTS. The lightweight coupe, set to go on sale in early 2010 at a yet-undisclosed price, was conceived as a limited-edition model primarily for club-based racing in much the same way that Porsche builds the 911 GT3 Clubsport. But in a clear effort to link its track-based activities with the production-car side of its business, BMW's M division is offering the new car with a homologation package that will allow customers to register the M3 GTS for street use.
