Ford C-Max at 2009 Frankfurt motor show

Now called just the straightforward C-Max, having dropped the Focus part of its name, the new car will be shown at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. However, there’s still quite a long wait until you can actually buy the new C-Max – it won’t roll into Blue Oval dealers until autumn 2010, when it will pitch into battle with the Renault Scenic and Vauxhall Zafira.

New service! Buy a single issue of CAR online

CAR this month trials a new service letting you buy a single issue of CAR Magazine via the website – at the same price you’d pay in a shop. Previously you’ve only been able to take out an annual subscription to the printed magazine online, but we’re testing a new, more flexible system to see if there’s demand to buy single issues. Subaru may have transformed its reputation from builder of dull-but-sturdy farmermobiles to maker of fast-and-furious racers with a little help from Burns and McRae, but the game’s moved on and not everyone’s impressed by sub-20mpg Imprezas anymore. Besides, Subaru’s WRC outfit isn’t exactly competitive these days.
