Jaguar C-X17 concept (2013) full details on new aluminium chassis
Mon, 09 Sep 2013Jaguar’s C-X17 crossover concept might have show-stopping looks, but it’s what will lie beneath the production crossover – thought to be called QX – that’s just as intriguing: an all-new aluminium platform, dubbed ‘iQ Al’. It’s a clean-sheet design, with double-wishbone suspension up front, and a multi-link axle at the rear. For more unseen location photos and an in-depth feature, pick up the October issue of CAR magazine, out Wednesday 18 September Jaguar C-X17 crossover concept: the lowdown on the ‘iQ Al’ aluminium platform ‘It had to be a clean-sheet design to reach our goals,’ says Jaguar vehicle line director Kevin Stride.
MG3: Shanghai Motor Show
Sat, 20 Apr 2013The MG3 SuperMini for Europe is a titivated version of the MG3 the Chinese market gets, complete with a decent dose of flair and additional equipment and cosmetic enhancements to make it more appealing to Western tastes. That means hockey stick shaped LED running lights across the range, black A-pillars, mesh grill (well, mesh slit at the front), dual colour side skirts, dual colour alloys and a rear valance MG say was inspired by generations of MG sports cars. Although only 4 metres long, MG say the MG3 offer space inside that matches or beats all competition (room for four six-footers they reckon) and gets a ‘rolled and raised’ dash that accentuates the space on offer and sculpted backs to the front seats to help space in the rear.
Stunners turn out for San Marino Motor Classic
Mon, 13 Jun 2011A splendid new concours debuted on the sprawling main lawn of Lacy Park in sunny San Marino, Calif., on June 12--the San Marino Motor Classic. Featuring nearly 200 classic cars of all eras--from a Brass Era 1909 Pierce-Arrow Touring to a 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO--there was depth and breadth enough to satisfy everyone. While modern Porsches, Ferraris and even hot rods and Cobras spread out on side lawns of the great park, the balance of the show--82 of 179 registered entries--were Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) Packards, Lincolns, Cadillacs and Rolls-Royces, scattered across the main lawn.
