Walt Arfons battled his half-brother Art on the Bonneville Salt Flats and at dragstrips across the country, but the pair rarely spoke over the course of one of the longest and most intense motorsport rivalries ever. PRE-WAR CARS MAY GET MOT TEST EXEMPTION

PRE-WAR vehicles may have their requirement for an annual MoT test removed, it has been suggested. A meeting between Transport Minister Mike Penning and members of the All Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicles Group, led by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, has resolved to address the issue. The extremely low accident rate for such vehicles, the vast majority of which are kept in pristine condition by avid collectors, means there is little need for a MoT test, the group argued.

Motorcycle makers revved for rebound

After being hit a lot harder by the recession than carmakers, the motorcycle industry, more susceptible to the whims of discretionary spending, is on its way back. “Unit sales are growing for the first time in several years,” said Danny Phillips, executive vice president of Advanstar, the parent company of Progressive International, which put on last weekend's motorcycle show at the Long Beach Convention Center.
