Fiat 500L launches
Wed, 04 Jul 2012The Fiat 500L – a larger Fiat 500 based on the Punto – has launched in Italy ahead of going on sale in the UK in early 2013. We had the official arrival of the Fiat 500L at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and now we get the 500L’s official launch in Turin – together with lots of new photos and a video – before the 500L goes on sale around the world. The 500L is actually based on the underpinnings of the Punto to create a 500 MPV and, sensibly, Fiat has done with the 500L what MINI did with the Countryman and slapped an iconic badge on even though the 500L bears scant resemblance to its cute little sibling.
One Lap of the Web: Hit the salt at Bonneville, dream car junkyard sold and the BMW 507
Mon, 19 Aug 2013-- Known as the junkyard where GM dream cars went to die, Warhoops salvage yard has been sold. The yard, located not too far from GM's Warren, Mich. Tech Center, shot to stardom when four forgotten concepts -- the 1955 Cadillac LaSalle II roadster and sedan, the 1955 Chevrolet Biscayne, and the 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Town Car -- were rescued in 1988 by collector Joe Bortz in 1988.

After all, the Fiat 500 is a car very similar in concept to the MINI. Designed to evoke a motoring icon, but made very much 21st century in its execution, both the MINI and the Fiat 500 have gone down a storm in Europe.
