Sometimes a very ordinary car becomes something special, maybe even loved, but that's not always enough to keep it out of the jaws of the crusher. This is the story of a second-gen Toyota Tercel wagon (known in Japan as the Sprinter Carib) and its journey from auction to lumber-hauler to kid transportation to a Chinese steel factory. Audi will unveil its hot S4 saloon in autumn 2008 - and it's losing the V8 engine of old in favour of a new supercharged V6 petrol engine producing around 350bhp. Powering Audi's latest hot-shot saloon is a new-generation 3.0-litre supercharged V6, which will send its power to all four wheels through Audi's Quattro drivetrain.

First Sight: Peugeot HX1 concept

This is Peugeot HX1 concept car, which will be launched at this year's Frankfurt motor show. With a longer wheelbase than the BMW 5 Series, but lower, wider and 50mm longer, it measures in at 4950mm long, 1950mm wide but stands only 1400mm tall. But it looks immense.
