Sonnax Pinless Accumulator Piston 4L60E 700R4 2004R 4L65E (S74927BK)

SONNAX S74927BK

In GM 4L60-E, 4L65-E and 4L70-E units it is common to have poor shift quality, burnt bands or clutches due to accumulator piston wear. Repeated reciprocation of the accumulator piston causes wear at the piston pin bore interface. After this wear reaches a critical point, fluid loss through the piston pin bore cannot be compensated due to lack of pump volume.  In addition, the piston can get cocked and gall the accumulator bore due to the pin bore wear or the spring bottoming out. To prevent these conditions in the 1-2 or 3-4 accumulator bores, Sonnax offers pinless accumulator piston kit 77998-03K.

Features & Benefits

Pinless design eliminates the possibility of pin bore leakage and the additional length stabilizes the piston to prevent piston cocking

Dual seals stabilize and completely seal the bore and provide a tight seal even after thousands of cycles

Steel balls plug existing pin bore in case or cover

Chris Bangle, Peter Stevens and Tom Matano speak out about Google's driverless car

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Google's driverless car technology took a major step on 27 May. The tech firm unveiled its self-designed autonomous car prototype, which will supplement the fleet of modified Toyota Prius and Lexus RX SUVs that have been used thus far. But what do some of the best-know car designers think of Google's foray into the automotive world?

Revealed: the popular city cars that FAIL a new crash test

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

It’s fair to say that drivers are pretty well protected in just about any new car on the market today. It’s rare for cars to get anything below the maximum five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests, and even the most basic of cars come with equipment like ABS and airbags as standard. But America’s Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has devised a new test, which involves a “small overlap front crash” – similar to a head-on crash but only the front corner of a car collides with a solid object.

Closed-road racing made legal in the UK

Could the UK host its own Mille Miglia? By Adam Binnie Motoring Issues 11 July 2014 15:52 A London Grand Prix on closed streets or even a Pikes Peak style hill-climb in the Lake District could now by possible after the Government approved plans to allow motorsport events on public roads. It is hoped that the decision to allow staged rallies, hill climbs and trials of speed on closed-road street circuits will give the country’s motorsport industry a jump start. Prime minister David Cameron made the announcement today while touring the new Formula One Williams factory in Oxfordshire.
