Toyota FT-86 concept car: first official photos (2009): first official pictures

Wed, 07 Oct 2009

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 07 October 2009 13:31 Toyota will show off the new FT-86 'Toyobaru' – its new joint project with Subaru to build an affordable, rear-wheel drive sports coupé. The FT-86 will form the centrespiece of the 2009 Tokyo motor show later this month.Although dubbed a concept car, CAR understands the new Toyota FT-86 is in fact a near-production ready model that will launch Toyota back into the sports coupé market to battle the VW Scirocco and Honda CRZ. It's pretty compact at just 4160mm long and 1760mm wide, making it smaller than a TT or Scirocco.

Bugatti reveals footage of record-setting open-top run

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

In case there was any doubt, Bugatti posted footage on Monday of its $2.6 million Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse hitting a record-setting 254.04 mph at Volkswagen's Ehra-Lessien test track. Chinese racing driver Anthony Liu was behind the wheel. If you'll remember, when Bugatti had its hardtop top-speed record pulled, it quickly set this test in motion to quiet any detractors.

Treasures from West Germany lurk at Sonoma Raceway

Fri, 04 Apr 2014

In my role of Chief Justice of the 24 Hours of LeMons Supreme Court, I travel to Sonoma Raceway, aka Sears Point, at least twice per year. Most of the time I'm there, I'm stuck disciplining miscreant racers with incomprehensible penalties, but every so often I slip away in my Race Organizer Review car to shoot some action photos of the competitors. A good area for shooting LeMons cars is from the access road that runs parallel to the track between turn 10 and turn 11, and getting there takes me past an area of shops and garages… and I always spot some interesting cars parked there.
