Single Layer Construction. Three Layer Protection.
The Extrema RS-10 is the result of over 3 years of research and development. Sparco has patented a new technology called HOCOTEX® which revolutionizes the way racing suits are made. This new exclusive Sparco technology creates a single layer fabric which has the protection of what is normally achieved by a multi-layer fabric. The Extrema RS-10 is the only single layer suit in the world to pass the FIA 8858/2000 homologation. Lightness and Comfort Through Technology The EXTREMA RS-10 made in HOCOTEX® is the lightest racing suit in the world. At 700g, it is 10% lighter than the Sparco Superleggera which was the previous lightweight champion. Comfort never felt before: Thanks to HOCOTEX®, the EXTREMA RS-10 is three times more breathable than a suit produced using traditional technology. The use of this relatively thinner fabric (0.6mm compared to the standard 1.6mm) allows the EXTREMA RS-10 to have ultimate flexibility. The Extrema RS-10 has been tested and is now currently in use by professional teams from Formula One to WRC which guarantees improved comfort and mobility in all driving positions. Improved fire resistance: Traditional racing suits have layers of fabric sewn together with a quilted pattern. The quilting provides air space between the layers which bloats in a fire, which provides thermal protection to the driver. HOCOTEX® creates a honeycomb structure with internal air cells that ensure the driver even more fire protection. Traditional box quilting creates an average of 300 air chambers in a size 52 suit. The Extrema RS-10 has over 60,000 microcell air chambers which provide a 10 to 12% increase in heat protection performance. Colors and design: The EXTREMA RS-10 logos are 100% screen printed. Custom Extrema RS-10 suits can be printed with colors much more vivid than those available with standard embroidery, giving sponsor logos greater visibility and making way for a new level of communication. This is achieved using 3-layer screening process that makes the colors more visible without affecting the breathability and protection offered by the new EXTREMA RS-10.

Cadillac may get future rear-drive hybrids
Mon, 08 Feb 2010General Motors' two mode hybrid powertrain, used only in trucks, will migrate to rear-drive cars in the next generation, said Tom Stephens, GM's vice chairman of global product operations. Two likely candidates: Cadillacs, says consultant Jim Hall of 2953 Analytics in suburban Detroit. Last month, GM said it is developing an electric motor that is 25 percent smaller and 20 percent more powerful than the motor used in today's two mode hybrid full-sized trucks.
Honda Civic Type R UK sales to cease
Wed, 11 Aug 2010The Honda Civic Type R is dead. Or it is at least in Europe, as the high-revving, naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine that powers Honda's hot hatch can't meet forthcoming emissions requirements That's right – the Civic Type R can’t meet the latest Euro5 emissions regulations that come into force at the end of 2010, meaning in the UK and most other European countries (a tiny handful have Euro5 exemption) the Civic Type R will cease to be. If you live outside Europe then you’re still in luck as the Swindon-built Type R will continue to be sold in markets as far afield as Australia and South Africa.
