Second highest was Hyundai, whose shares rose 4.8% in the same period (Bloomberg)• Fisker has a new chief executive officer, as founder Henrik Fisker moves to executive chairman. Volkswagen has announced the new Golf R hot hatch will make its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show before going on UK sale in spring 2014. As the undisputed king of the VW Golf range, the Golf R packs 300hp and four-wheel drive, and is likely to be priced from just under £30,000. As such, the Golf R also becomes the most powerful production Golf.

Ford has released details and pictures of the 2012 Focus Econetic, the eco-efficiency variant of the new Ford Focus range with a hybrid-beating 80mpg claimed. Ford Focus Econetic: 80mpg and 95g/km
Ford makes some impressive promises about the efficiency of the new Focus Econetic. The car has yet to be officially homolgated, but Ford has announced it expects 80mpg, and a hybrid-harassing 95g/km from the Focus Econetic's Duratorq TDCI direct-injection turbodiesel engine.
