The best bits of Monterey Car Week 2014: a Pebble Beach photo gallery
Mon, 18 Aug 2014CAR’s Ben Oliver is just back from the races, auctions and shows of Monterey Car Week, culminating in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Here’s his completely unrepresentative photo-diary: as you’ll see, he got most excited by the oddball Concours de LeMons… The standard of restoration required to exhibit at the Concours de LeMons is a little lower than at the other Monterey Car Week events. The current version of the QX56 has been on the market since 2004 and is at the end of its shelf life, with a new 2011 Infiniti QX56 debuting at the New York Motor Show this week.
Vette plant to build high-performance engines
Wed, 30 Jan 2013General Motors is moving its Performance Build Center, which let enthusiasts pay $5,000-plus to build the high-performance engine for their Chevrolet Corvette, from Michigan to the Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green, Ky. The move is expected to be completed by spring 2014. It will let a Corvette buyer build his own engine, with help from a GM technician, and then see it installed in his car as it goes down the Bowling Green assembly line.
