SPOTLIGHT SCAN TROLLING MOTOR Transducer

Key Points

  • SpotlightScanTM Sonar delivers a new level of angler-controlled, forward- and surround-scanning views to provide picture-like images of key fishing areas on your HDS Gen2 or HDS Gen2 Touch.
  • The SpotlightScanTM Sonar Transducer connects directly to the sonar and StructureScan HD connectors on the Gen 2 Touch models.
  • HDS Gen 2 non-touch models require the new SonarHub to be able to view SpotlightScan
  • A small module is connected to any MotorGuide or MinnKota cable steer foot control pedal to provide the direction the Spotlight is pointing
  • SpotlightScan allows you to quickly concentrate on the key fishing areas of greatest interest – without wasting valuable fishing time waiting for a full 360-degree scan.
  • Twin forward-scanning beams provide lightning-fast refresh rates of images, and beam indicators or “spokes” are visible on the HDS Gen2 display to guide adjustments on rotation or scanning speeds for the best possible underwater image.
  • In addition to forward- and surround-scanning performance, the SpotlightScan transducer also provides DownScan Imaging™ for picture-like images of fish and structure beneath your boat— as well as award-winning Broadband Sounder® technology, which is ideal for marking fish arches and tracking lure action.

Connection to HDS Gen2 non-Touch displays requires SonarHub module

A handful of manufacturers have offered four-wheel steering in the past including Honda, Nissan, BMW, Mitsubishi, Mazda and, most recently, Acura and Porsche. On Monday, suspension expert Elephant Racing uploaded a video to its YouTube channel demonstrating the feature on the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3. In most four-wheel steering cars--Acura and Porsche included—a computer controls the movable rear wheels.

No sign of global auto meltdown at Tokyo Auto Salon

Mon, 19 Jan 2009

With more than 600 cars on display and a record number of exhibitors, nothing at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon tuner show hinted at the global economic downturn. As always, there was a great mix of styles, from hard-core, 1,000-hp, supertuned machinery to weird customized scooter tricycles. Auto manufacturers tried hard to capture the minds--if not the wallets--of the younger-than-30 crowd with customized versions of production cars, while tuners were busy persuading power junkies to choose them for their next engine modification.

Concept Car of the Week: Alfa Romeo BAT 7

Fri, 31 Aug 2012

This week sees the Concept of the Week title go to Alfa Romeo and Bertone for their collaboration on the Alfa Romeo BAT 7, the second addition to the BAT series that began in 1953 and finished in 1955. First seen at the 1954 Turin motor show, this wildly futuristic ‘dream' car came about after Alfa Romeo contacted Giuseppe "Nuccio" Bertone of the Bertone carrozeria to commission three concepts with the lowest possible drag coefficient. The cars were named BAT for "Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica." Built upon the Alfa Romeo 1900 chassis, the BAT cars featured large rear bumpers and curved fins, and the concepts achieved a drag coefficient of just 0.19 - an impressive result.
