Vintage Halibrand shifter center section has lower shaft, coupler, ring gear and pinion with bolts, side plates and rear cover.  Lower shaft has a chip out of it as shown.  It is still usable with the coupler with no problems.  486 ring gear is in good shape.  Pinion has several chips.  Comes with bolts shown.  12 bolt side plates have all good bolt holes and no cracks.  One does have an insert in one of the holes.  Both have seals that are good.  Brake mount bracket hole threads are good.  The part # on the side plates are 293-6350 and 293-6351 and both are stamped Halibrand.  Case is in very good shape.  No cracks anywhere.  All front snout threads are good.  Part # is H301.  Rear cover only has a few small chips on the fins from use.  Comes with nuts shown.  Coupler is steel and the splines are good.  This whole piece is in amazing condition.   There will be no international shipping due to the size and weight of the package.  Ships to 48 states only.

Berg examines the BMW 325is, with its new, free-revving, 2.5-liter inline six-cylinder, making BMW’s small sedan an even more desirable ride. Compared with the more expensive Porsche 944 and Acura Legend, the BMW gets Berg’s nod of approval.

2010 Lexus RX 350 gets $37,625 sticker

The redesigned 2010 Lexus RX 350 gets a sticker price of $37,625 for the front-drive model, and $39,025 for the all-wheel-drive model. The new RX goes on sale later this month. Lexus engineers have coaxed an additional 5 hp from the 3.5-liter V6, bringing the output to 275 hp.

Karmann files for insolvency

Karmann, the century-old German coachbuilder synonymous with cabrios and the famous 1950s Karmann Ghia, has filed for insolvency. The company made the move Wednesday in Germany in response to a dramatic decline in revenue, an inability to pay for its massive layoff plan and the worldwide economic crisis. The North American operations, which make convertible tops for Detroit car companies and Volkswagen, are not affected, a spokesman said.
