Ford boss Alan Mulally on how he saved Ford
Mon, 27 Sep 2010Ford president and CEO Alan Mulally today told British business leaders how he saved Ford from the worst recession for a generation. Mulally gave the keynote speech to the Confederation of British Industry in London, where business bigwigs heard how Ford became the only Detroit car maker not to collapse into bankruptcy.
Alfa Romeo MiTo Review (2012): Quadrifoglio Verde (Cloverleaf)
Fri, 29 Jun 2012We have the range-topping Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde (Cloverleaf) in for a week for review and test. The Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde (or Alfa MiTo Cloverleaf to us linguistically challenged Brits) is Alfa’s efforts at a proper little hot hatch and gets the very good 170bhp 1.4 litre MultiAir engine under the bonnet, offering real performance promise. The MiTo is a bit of a Marmite car in the looks department with its small car take on an 8C nose.
Volkswagen e-Golf: MK 7 Golf EV leaks ahead of Geneva debut
Wed, 20 Feb 2013An electric version of the MK 7 Volkswagen Golf – the VW e-Golf – has leaked out ahead of a debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Even though car industry bosses are sure that battery electric cars have no realistic chance of becoming a mainstream option – and the best-selling EV, the Nissan LEAF, has only sold 50k since 2010 – VW are rolling out an electric Golf at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The VW e-Golf – with pretty much the same underpinnings as the new Mk 7 Golf with an ICE engine – comes with an electric motor driving the front wheels and offering 115bhp and 199lb/ft of torque, enough to get the e-Golf to 62mph in 11.8 seconds and on to a top speed of just 84mph.
