Tue, 16 Feb 2010The Porsche Panamera V6 will debut in April at the Beijing Motor Show A year on from the launch of the Porsche Panamera in China last year, Porsche has revealed that the Porsche Panamera V6 will join the Panamera lineup and – in yet another sign of the importance of the Chinese market – will be revealed at the Beijing Motor Show in April. The Panamera V6 comes with either rear wheel drive – the Porsche Panamera – or 4WD – the Porsche Panamera 4 – and gets a new 3.6 litre V6 petrol lump producing 300bhp and 295lb/ft of torque. Fitted with Porsche’s PDK ‘box both models get stop/start to trimĀ emissionsĀ and improve economy.
Audi plans expansion of hybrids, electrics
Mon, 15 Mar 2010Audi plans a rapid expansion of plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles over the next few years as a key component in Volkswagen Group's strategy to dominate the alternative-powertrain market by decade's end. Michael Dick, Audi's board member for technical development, told Automotive News that the next-generation A6 sedan will have the potential to be a full hybrid by the end of 2012. The A6 would join the recently introduced hybrid A8 sedan at the Geneva auto show and the soon-to-be-launched Q5 hybrid crossover.
Cash-for-clunkers deal to end Monday night, government says
Thu, 20 Aug 2009The Obama administration plans to cut off dealer funding for the cash-for-clunkers program on Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern, after finding that the $3 billion fund is nearing depletion, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said. "The overriding objective was to be conservative and to provide an adequate window for a soft landing," a senior administration official said in a conference call with reporters Thursday.
