Henrico, Virginia, United States
STAINLESS STEEL (316) Anchor Chain 10mm (3/8") by 15' in length includes quality forged shackles on each end Please note the pictures in this listing are of our 6' chain, but this listing is for a 15' chain. This is a quality marine grade stainless steel (AISI 316) chain specifically cut for anchor chain. The link size is 10mm or 3/8" equivalent. Included are two oversized marine grade stainless steel (AISI 316) anchor shackles. Each shackle is 1/2". The total length of chain is 15' measured before the shackles are added. The chain links are marked in the European specification style of 10mm (for the chain link size) and 1/2" (for the shackle size). The Imperial equivalent is generally considered to be 3/8" for the chain link size. This is a forged shackle, which for load applications is better than cast. AISI 316 stainless is a premium grade of stainless and is considered by many to be best in class. 316 stainless is corrosion resistant and very durable even in the harshest of conditions. Simeone museum lays out history of competition sports cars
Mon, 28 Sep 2009Unlike Europe, with its multimillion-dollar manufacturer-sponsored auto museums, the United States has built its auto museums almost entirely with private money. Traveling around the country, you can find spectacular collections such as the Nethercutt in Sylmar, Calif., small enthusiast-run museums such as the Pierce-Arrow museum in Buffalo and everything in between. There are museums for hearses, microcars, tractors and every conceivable form of transport--including a museum in Ferndale, Calif., for human-powered vehicles.

Early cars, fashion on display at the Petersen
Thu, 16 Sep 2010Automotivated, a new exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, traces the evolution of clothes worn in cars--from the bulky circus-tent stuff people had to wear to keep from freezing to death in the jangly, open-topped conveyances of 100 years ago, up to the height of the European Concours in the 1920s and '30s, when what you and your date wore was just as important to winning best of show as the styling of your Delahaye/Delage/Talbot Lago. “In the earliest days of the automobile, you were sitting on the car, you weren't sitting in it,” said Leslie Kendall, curator at the Petersen. So the first section of the exhibit shows people (mannequins dressed as people) in heavy, practical overcoats, scarves and goggles.
