GMC Granite concept (w/ Video)

The biggest surprise at the 2010 NAIAS was GMC's Granite concept - a design that expands (or rather contracts) the truck/crossover brand's 'professional grade' philosophy to a compact hatchback aimed at urban hipsters and early adopters. Conceived by Frank Saucedo's Advanced Design team in California and then built at GM's Design Center in Detroit, the Granite combines the basic proportions of the Nissan Cube and Scion xB with a military/industrial feel inspired by the current G-Star and Diesel fashion lines. The Skoda Octavia gets 4x4 and DSG 'box We had a shout out for Skoda and what they do to make VW product their own when we ran story the other day on the new advert for the Skoda vRS, which shows how individual and inspired Skoda now are. Most of the time, anyway. Not only are Skodas inspired and individual, they are also something of a bargain compared to their VW brethren.

We continue our review / road test of the Peugeot 308 S The 308 range as a whole can stretch north of £22,000 as a base price, which is far too much money for what’s on offer. But this car – the Peugeot 308  S HDi 90 – comes in at a more reasonable £16,955. Our car did have a few extras thrown at it - metallic paint (£410) and SatNav (£715) – which pushed it up over £18k.
