Hyundai Veloster Turbo - US spec arrives at Detroit The Hyundai Veloster Turbo has debuted at the Detroit Auto Show with more aggressive looks and 201hp from its 1.6 litre Turbo. The Hyundai Veloster Turbo that’s now arrived at the Detroit Auto Show – after a small leak of Veloster Turbo pictures this morning – may not be exactly the same as the Veloster Turbo we’ll get in the UK (more on that in a moment), but it’s close enough to give us a good idea of what the Turbo will add to the Veloster equation. Elon Musk is buoyed by the success of the Tesla S and the seemingly inexorable rise in Tesla’s stock which has allowed Tesla to repay its government loans way ahead of schedule. Now Musk has been getting adventurous in an interview with Bloomberg where he’s stated that the next plan for Tesla is to build a smaller, more affordable electric car that can take on the Nissan LEAF. Musk plans to stay in control of Tesla until plans for a news small EV are complete, and said: With the Model S, you have a compelling car that’s too expensive for most people.

Seat Leon ST wins five-star safety rating

SEAT'S SPACIOUS Leon ST has been awarded a five-star safety rating by car safety assessment body Euro NCAP. The estate version of the already-popular Leon goes on sale in the UK in October for January 2014 first deliveries. The rating is the result of exceptional scores in all areas of the industry-standard Euro NCAP test, but particularly the adult occupant safety and child occupant safety sections, for which the Leon ST scored 94% and 92% respectively.
