Jeep Grand Cherokee to spawn Maserati SUV – confirmed
Mon, 22 Nov 2010The 2003 Maserati Kubang SUV Concept The idea of an SUV from every luxury maker seemed a dead cert a few years ago. And then the world went in to financial meltdown and the eco-mentalists convinced a chunk of the car buying public that SUVs were the spawn of the devil, which put the kybosh on the nascent plans of many a car maker. But the recession hasn’t quite turned in to a depression (unless you’re one of the poor countries sucked in to the German Euro Zone), and many are now waking up to the fact that SUVs aren’t killing the planet and that CO2 is actually beneficial to planet earth, not harmful.
VW Concept BlueSport at Detroit auto show 2009
Mon, 12 Jan 2009By Tim Pollard Motor Shows 12 January 2009 05:29 CAR's been tipping it for ages, but today we finally saw the first proof of VW's ambitions to build a Lotus Elise-style back-to-basics roadster. The Concept BlueSport is a mid-engined sports car with the emphasis firmly on the lack of frills – to the benefit of performance, handling and the car's environmental credentials. The BlueSport is compact at just 3999mm long and that mid-mounted engine keeps weight distribution even-Stevens at 45:55.
Fiat 500X SUV & new baby Jeep confirmed
Fri, 21 Dec 2012Fiat has confirmed it is extending the 500 range with the Fiat 500X SUV and will build a new small Jeep crossover on the same platform. We’ve just had the first extension of the 500 range arrive in the UK in the guise of the Fiat 500L (complete with 500L ‘Motherhood’ rap), but the 500L range isn’t going to end there. Following on from a sneak peek at a probable future Fiat 500X SUV back in July, Fiat has now confirmed it is going to put the rufty-tufty version of the 500 in to production and will build it alongside a new baby Jeep crossover – based on the same underpinnings – at its Melfi factory in Italy.
