 Single Plate Cerametallic Clutches

Exedy cerametallic clutches are designed to handle the abuse of high power modified engines. Their cerametallic friction material can handle much mor slippage than stock type disc assemblies without slipping and fadding. These clutch discs have spring center dampers to reduce the impact and shock loads put into the drivetrain. This protects the transmission and the rest of the drive line system. There are two types of cerametallic clutches: Normal thickness and Reduced thickness. The reduced thickness discs offer reduced inertia to improve shift efforts and improve synchro durablilty. These discs are half the thickness of a stock disc and is used for track only.

The normal thickness discs have better heat capacity and therefore better durability in demanding applications such as all wheel drive. These are good for street and track.
With any cerametallic clutch system, there will be some compromise of start up driveability as compared to a stock clutch (chatter on light throttle). Drivers of cerametallic clutches on the street should be warned not to '' ride the clutch '' to try to reduce the chatter as this will greatly increase wear.
Stage 2 Clutch Kits are a three puck design that include the throwout bearing.

Breedlove's Back!

Thu, 08 May 2014

Craig Breedlove, the land-speed racer who set records at over 400, 500 and 600 mph has a new race car on the drawing boards and is the feature of a couple other projects. We caught up with him recently in Los Angeles. It seems Breedlove always had a car project in the works; most recently, he took the Spirit of America Formula Shell LSRV to almost 700 mph on the Black Rock Desert in 1996.

2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe review notes

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

EXECUTIVE EDITOR BOB GRITZINGER: Just when all the auto pundits thought the big-honkin' all-wheel-drive full-size (at least for Mini) Countryman was the first sign of Mini's impending demise, along comes the apocalypse, otherwise known as the Cooper Coupe. Though people of all ages venture that it “looks cool” or “interesting” or “fun,” none of them have had to drive it or live with it. Let's get out of the way that it can be as fun to drive as a Mini Cooper S, but it's not an improvement over the larger, more functional, more sanely styled model.

Vauxhall Adam (2013) first official pictures

Wed, 11 Jul 2012

This is the brand new Vauxhall Adam, a highly-customisable city car that Vauxhall hopes will challenge the established premium superminis, like the Mini, Audi A1, Citroen DS3 and Fiat 500. But what's the thinking behind calling this Vauxhall 'Adam'? Try to ignore the name as best you can.
