Interior Motives Design Awards 2009
Wed, 16 Sep 2009Tonight, amidst the turmoil of a recession-struck auto industry, innovation and optimism shone through the work of a talented young group of international student designers at the seventh annual Interior Motives Design Awards. And none more so than that of the overall winner and newly crowned Interior Motives Student Designer of the Year 2009: Philip Woodman from Coventry University. Launched in February 2009 and themed ‘Sustainable and Clever', this year's competition fielded a record number of entries from 32 different countries and culminated this evening in a glamorous awards ceremony at Frankfurt's renowned Cocoon club in Germany.

This is Aston Martin’s new petrol-powered LMP1 Le Mans contender, designed to take on the diesel might of Peugeot's 908 and Audi's new R15. Aston is aiming for the overall win at the legendary 24-hour race on 13-14 June 2009, 50 years after Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori drove a DBR1 to victory. Aston’s new LMP1 car is based on the Lola-developed 2008 Charouz Racing Aston Martin that came ninth at Le Mans in 2008. For '09 the car has been further tweaked with help from Lola, Michelin, Koni and BBS.

Mon, 18 Jan 2010Ford revealed the all-new third generation Focus at the Detroit auto show last week. The C-segment vehicle is the latest evolution of the Ford kinetic design form language that has been developed by the team at the company's Merkenich design center near Cologne in Germany, under the leadership of executive design director Martin Smith. With a more dynamic form language bringing the vehicle in line with its smaller (Fiesta) and larger (Mondeo) siblings, the new Focus has been engineered to meet all customer and legislative requirements of the major worldwide markets.
