Campaign Group Calls For Halt To 20mph Roll Out
Fri, 29 Aug 2014CAMPAIGN group Alliance of British Drivers (ABD) is calling for Government to halt the roll out of 20mph zones following further increases in 20mph accidents. The organisation has also questioned the motivation of proponents who continue to advocate a national roll out of 20mph zones, despite an ongoing Government investigation and claims of increased recorded accident statistics in current 20mph zones. In a recent survey of its members: 95% of Alliance of British Drivers' members believe that the roll out of 20mph zones and limits should be halted pending Government research into increased casualty statistics in current zones.
Trail of clues leading to Chevrolet SS nameplate
Thu, 26 Apr 2012Connecting the dots that lead to Chevrolet's as-yet-unnamed new model seems to lead back to one storied name: SS. The latest clue that a rear-wheel-drive performance sedan named simply SS could soon join nameplates such as Malibu and Suburban in Chevy's lineup came from an unlikely source: GM itself. A page on the OnStar Web site had listed the GM models that are compatible with a mobile app that gives owners remote vehicle access through their smartphones.
Petrolhead spiders cause Mazda recall
Mon, 07 Apr 2014Mazda has had to recall 42,000 vehicles in the US after it emerged that a species of spider had been weaving webs in fuel vent hoses, increasing the risk of fuel leaks and fires. The yellow sac spider’s curious domestic activities cause a build-up of pressure in the evaporative fuel vent that – in theory at least – could result in a cracked fuel tank and therefore an increased risk of fire. This isn’t the first time that the Mazda 6 has received the unwanted advances of a gas-guzzling arachnid, either – three years ago Mazda had to recall over 50,000 cars for precisely the same reason.
