New Volkswagen Golf: World Car of the Year 2013

The VW Golf MK 7 has been declared World Car of the Year at the New York Auto Show, beating Porsche, Mercedes and Toyota to the title. That bunch included cars like the Porsche Boxster, Mercedes A Class and Toyota GT86, so competition was strong, but just as the new Golf had triumphed as European Car of the Year 2013 the Golf was also victorious on the bigger, global stage. Nissan Hi-Cross concept previewed [w/video]

Nissan has presented a first look of its Nissan Hi-Cross Concept that will be shown at the Geneva motor show. The manufacturer has released a first image as well as a video of the new crossover concept, which is set to sit above the hugely successful Qashqai in Nissan's crossover range. This model – joining the Juke, Qashqai and Murano – continues Nissan's commitment to the segment.

Chrysler cuts Viper output amid slow sales, growing inventory

Chrysler Group has cut output of the SRT Viper by a third and will reassign scores of workers to other plants because of slow sales, growing inventories, and the onset of colder weather. Workers at Chrysler's Conner Avenue Assembly plant in Detroit, where the car is assembled, were told of the production moves today. None will be laid off; instead they will be reassigned to other Chrysler plants in the Detroit area, a Chrysler spokeswoman said.
