Volkswagen XL1

This, remarkably, is the production version of the Volkswagen XL1, the most fuel-efficient production car in the world, a car we'll see in Geneva in a little over a week. BMW hires former General Motors EV expert Weber, sources say

BMW AG has hired former Opel product chief Frank Weber, sources at both companies told Automotive News Europe. It's a move that gives the world's leading luxury carmaker a huge boost in electric vehicle expertise as Weber was the lead engineer for the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid. BMW plans to launch its i3 full-electric car and its i8 plug-in hybrid in 2013.

Qoros reveals design language ahead of Geneva debut

New car manufacturer Qoros' future design language has been revealed ahead of the world debut of its new sedan for China and Europe at the Geneva motor show in March. The brand's first production car will be showcased alongside two concept cars that will preview the future design direction of Qoros' range. The company was created in 2007 by a 50:50 joint venture between Chery Automobile and Israel Corporation, allowing the Qoros designers the chance to create a new design language from scratch.
