The Freespool Clutch is operated by a pull-and-turn knob which disengages the gearbox to allow the wire rope to be pulled out without using electric power. The Superwinch features a wire rope tensioning plate to reduce backlash and snarling when pulling out the rope, and full load mechanical and dynamic brake for added safety. The T1500 incorporates a high-efficiency remote mounted draw motor, and a remote switch allows a wide variety of mounting options. This winch includes a 25-foot galvanized wire rope with thimble end and a latched hook.

2009 Michelin Challenge Design theme announced
Tue, 15 Jan 2008Michelin today announced the 2009 theme for its global vehicle design competition, Michelin Challenge Design (MCD), asking entrants to explore the future of transportation and share their brave and bold vision for 'America's Next Iconic Vehicle.' Designers this year are asked to render unique vehicle concepts that demonstrate emotional appeal, design courage and technical execution. Additional consideration will be given to entries with attributes that benefit safety and the environment and include a separate rendering of the tire and wheel component assembly. Vehicle designs that best represent "Brave + Bold, America's Next Iconic Vehicle" will be reviewed by a jury of professional designers whose names will be announced later in 2008.

Recently, we had Alfa pitting the MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 85bhp in a race around London against an athlete. On the face of it that race was to promote UK Athletics (sponsored by Alfa Romeo) but a big part, and the reason for the ‘London’ angle, is that the latest MiTo emits just 95g/km – the perfect London car.
