Gordon Murray T25

Mon, 28 Jun 2010

Gordon Murray Design has unveiled the T25 prototype, a car that the company's founder, Gordon Murray, has long talked about as the vehicle that will revolutionize the automotive industry. At just 2400mm long, 1300mm wide and 1600mm high, the T25 occupies a greatly reduced footprint in comparison to a Smart ForTwo or Toyota iQ. The T25 seats three, with a central driver flanked by two rearward passengers, in a formation reminiscent of Murray's most famous work to date – the McLaren F1.

Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach Package does 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds The trio of hypercars currently vying for the title of the ultimate supercar – McLaren P1, LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder – have all taken similar – but different – routes to performance, although they’ve all ended up with remarkably similar statistics. But the Porsche 918 Spyder has already scored a direct hit with a record time of 6:57s round the Nurburgring and now, ahead of the first customer cars finally reaching their homes, Porsche has revealed improved performance for the 918 Spyder with the Weissach Package fitted. Performance from 0-62mph is just 2.6 seconds (2.8 seconds without the Weissach Package), 124mph is reached in 7.2 seconds (0.5s quicker) and 186mph in 19.9 seconds (2.1 s quicker).

Show Review: Tokyo Concours D’Elegance

Wed, 28 Nov 2007

Tokyo has hosted the first of what it hopes will become the Japanese equivalent of America's Pebble Beach and Italy's Villa D'Este. Held at the plush Tokyo Midtown shopping mall/commercial complex, the Tokyo Concours D'Elegance was initiated by enthusiast Paul Goldsmith and coincided with the first public days of the Tokyo Motor Show - though regrettably also with a typhoon, forcing organisers to cover the cars on the lawns, which were ultimately closed due to flooding. Fortunately, the exhibition had been split between in- and outdoors, and while the weather lashed out at those braving the winds, there were still some interesting displays for those wishing to remain dry.
