New Ford Mondeo: Estate, Hybrid and 4WD

Thu, 06 Sep 2012

The 2013 Ford Mondeo will come as a regular five door and estate but there will also be a four wheel diesel and a hybrid option. We’ve already reported that the new Mondeo will get the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine as an option – the first time any car in the D Segment has had such a small engine – but there’s more to the new Mondeo than just a headline little engine and an Aston Martin grill. As well as the frugal EcoBoost engine, Ford will also be launching their first hybrid in Europe with a Mondeo Hybrid boasting a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 35kW lithium-ion battery to trim official emissions and consumption as much as possible.

Toyota sets electric car record at Nurburgring with TMG EV P001

Thu, 01 Sep 2011

Toyota TMG EV P001 - new EV lap record at the Nurburgring Every car maker wants a lap record at the Nurburgring, and Toyota is no different. What is different this time is that Toyota has taken a non-production car with an electric motor – the Toyota TMG EV P001 – to crack the record for an EV. Nurburgring regular Jochen Krumbach took the Toyota Motorsport EV P001 round the 20.8km Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in a blistering 7m 47.794s, annihilating the previous record of 9m 1.388s.

Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI quattro – stunning CGI

Mon, 08 Mar 2010

Audi has created a stunning CGI video of the R8 V10 (below) As we’ve said a thousand times before, there is no substitute for actually driving a car. However hard we try at Cars UK to tell you what a car is like, and endless photos to show you every angle and nuance in the design, it’s still a narrow experience. Video gets much closer and you get a good feel for a car by watching a video.
