Jaguar to end XK production after 18 years

Jaguar will this summer cease production of the XK 2+2 GT car after 18 years at the top of the Coventry firm’s model range. The decision to stop making the XK comes after the hugely successful launch of the F-Type – which, say analysts, has led to a big fall in XK sales as thousands of buyers queues up to buy the F-Type. New smart fortwo electric drive enters production

Mercedes has announced that the third generation 2012 smart fortwo electric drive has gone in to production. Mercedes may, very sensibly, be pursuing hydrogen fuel cells as the real future of motoring but they still have an eye on electric cars as urban runarounds. That urban EV takes shape as the Smart EV, and the third generation smart fortwo ED (electric drive) debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March and has now gone in to production.

2014 Michelin Challenge Design jury meets to select winners

The 2014 Michelin Challenge Design judging panel has selected the top three entries of its ‘Driven/Undriven' contest after an intense two-day session at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. On the first day, the jurors discussed each individual submission before whittling them down to just 15 finalists. Their work will be presented at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January 2014 as part of the Michelin Challenge Design exhibit.
