Hyundai offers gas incentive plan

Last summer, when gas prices were pushing above $4 a gallon, Chrysler tried to cash in and move some metal by offering a guaranteed gas price of $2.99 for three years. But that plan crashed when the price of gas plummeted. Now, Hyundai is ready to give that marketing spiff another spin.

The McLaren P1 GTR will pack 986bhp (or a nice, round 1000ps in metric), 83 ponies more than its street-legal sibling, a wider track, full slick racing tyres and bigger downforce levels  than the regular P1 – if you can call a car like the P1 ‘regular’. Rumours talk about a fixed rear wing instead of the deployable one on the standard car.

Racing fans owe a debt of gratitude to the late Ab Jenkins. The race-car driver and once mayor of Salt Lake City put the Bonneville Salt Flats on the map with the many land-speed records he set there in the 1930s and 40s--some of which remain unbroken.
