Renault Twin-Z concept (2013) first official pictures

Mon, 08 Apr 2013

This is the Renault Twin-Z concept (say it 'Twin-Zee'). Although it packs the usual concept car madness of suicide doors, a pared-back cabin and LEDs everywhere, it actually previews the look – and drivetrain – of the next Renault Twingo. The big news is that it'll be rear-engined, rear-drive, and offer an electric option for less money than the £13k Renault Zoe EV.

Tata Nano (2008): first official pictures

Thu, 10 Jan 2008

By John Sootheran First Official Pictures 10 January 2008 09:33 Shove over a bit Henry Ford, Ferry Porsche and Alec Issigonis, because as of this morning there's a new entrant for the People's Car Hall of Fame. The first day of the Indian Auto Expo 2008 in Delhi, saw Ratan N Tata (yes, the fella who's leading the bid for Jaguar and Land Rover) reveal his much vaunted 'one lakh' car (that's 100,000 rupees or a measly £1300). Despite being the Chairman and CEO of one of the world's biggest corporations, Ratan Tata admits to being a nervous presenter, so much so, that the initial information was presented by his hologram! When he did appear, it was behind the wheel of one of three 'one lakh' cars being driven onto the stage. The 3000-strong audience of press and VIPs went beserk amid scenes of euphoria last witnessed at the Clinton comeback in New Hampshire.

Hyundai to reveal Blue-Will plug-in hybrid at Seoul show

Wed, 25 Mar 2009

By Chris Chilton First Official Pictures 25 March 2009 14:15 Hyundai will reveal the Blue-Will, a dramatically-styled plug-in hybrid coupe, at the 2009 Seoul Motor Show that employs state-of-the-art lithium ion polymer batteries. The Blue-Will concept is powered by a direct injection 1.6-litre petrol mated to a CVT transmission. A battery pack mounted together with the fuel tank under the rear sat ensures cabin and luggage space doesn’t suffer and clever solar cells mounted in the glass roof panel generate power for the battery but don’t limit visibility through the glass pane Although the swoopy bodywork with its mixture of smooth curves and sharp intersecting hint at a future design direction for Hyundai, there are no plans to put the Blue-Will into production.
