Import Tuner Magazine Article: Brass, Carbon-Coated and Full-Carbon Synchros "I rev out to almost 11 grand in each gear," begins Tim Thomas, NYC-based Low Budget Racing's 9.6-second B-series Civic drag champ, "and it was just killing the stock synchros. They were failing every two or three passes." He continues, "I've gone over 20 passes on Synchrotech's carbon-fiber ones so far, and shifting at high rpm is way faster. If I blow a trans, I'll yank out the synchros and put them in the new trans-good as new!" Brian Kono, of Cypress, CA's After Hours Automotive, whose road-race EG recently won Honda Challenge's H2 class with the prototype full carbon-fiber synchros installed (and with Renan Bayar behind the wheel), concurs. "We log thousands of high-rpm, abusive shifts during each race weekend," he explains, "and the carbon synchros outperform OE in every way." |

Fri, 07 Feb 2014The Koenigsegg One:1 (pictured) gets an enormous rear wing The Koenigsegg One:1 – Koenigsegg’s most powerful car ever – is heading for the Geneva Motor Show next month, ahead of which Keonigsegg has revealed the first photo of their new car (above). We reported just last week that the One:1 would make its debut at Geneva so, with a month to go before the Geneva Motor Show kicks off, Koenigsegg has decided it’s time to show some of what the One:1 is all about. Based on the Agera, the most dramatic difference between the two is the enormous rear wing on the back, so big it needs support from bars running in to the roof.
Toyota Prius+ gets a bit of a tweak for 2015
Thu, 09 Oct 2014Toyota Prius+ gets a bit of a tweak for 2015 It’s more than three years since Toyota took the Prius and turned it in to the world’s only seven-seat MPV – the Toyota Prius+ – and more than two years since it arrived in the UK. So it’s time for a tweak or two. The cosmetic changes to the Prius+ are, by any standards, minor and consist of the normal facelift fodder with tweaks at the front – new grill design and badge and LED lights – and the back – redesigned bumper, slightly different lights and some trim round the numberplate – being pretty much it for the exterior.
Jaguar E-Type ‘Growler’ to be built
Mon, 07 Mar 2011The Jaguar E-Type Growler As you can’t have failed to notice, 2011 is the Jaguar E-Type’s 50th anniversary and Jaguar are busy making sure everyone knows it. From the original Geneva E-Type show car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show on through being an iconic part of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the E-Type will be everywhere. Which may have something to do with the inspiration – and timing - behind Swedish firm Visualtech’s plans to build an E-Type for the 21st century.
