Ford and GM tie-in with Apple

Thu, 10 Aug 2006

Having established a relationship with Nike for recycling materials as demonstrated on the Ford Reflex concept, Ford has now joined GM in collaborating with Apple to ensure their cars are iPod compatible. Rather than the retrofitted wire many drivers have had to resort to, cars will offer a bespoke area in the glove compartment that also acts as a charging point, the iPod instead controlled through the car?s GUI. By the end of the year, 70% of all new models sold in America are expected to be iPod compatible, an arrangement that furthers Apple?s continuing domination of the MP3-player market and one that will introduce Apple to the car-computer market, anticipated to be worth $6billion by 2010.

Lord Charles March takes the 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish up the Goodwood Hillcimb (video)

Sat, 06 Apr 2013

Lord Charles March – he of the Goodwood Festival of Speed – takes the 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish up the Goodwood hillclimb. The Hillclimb is a 1.16 mile road course, starting at the bottom corner of the Goodwood Estate where you take off on a tree-lined avenue before sweeping right and up past the main house before you enter a steep and narrow estate road, past unforgiving flint walls and woodland, before ending up by Goodwood’s racecourse at the top of the South Downs. It’s a thrilling run in almost any car (yes, we’ve been privileged to do it more than once) and now, with the ‘Moving Motor Show’ part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, many more are getting the chance to try the hillclimb in car makers’ latest offerings - admittedly not usually at full tilt.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Special Editions at Dubai Motor Show

The Canary Yellow Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Special Edition at Dubai Remarkably, it’s been at least a few weeks since the last Limited Edition Bugatti Veyron turned up. But worry not, Bugatti hasn’t forgotten it’s principle marketing ploy is endless Limited Editions Veyrons, so they’ve turned up at the Dubai Motor Show with a trio of Grand Sport Limited Editions. However, its seems that having come up with endless names for its Limited Editions - Pur Sang, Fbg Par Hermès, Sang Noir, Bleu Centenaire… – and even three special Veyrons for Dubai three years ago – Veyron Nocturne, the Veyron Sang d’Argent and the Veyron Soleil de Nuit - Bugatti has run out of inspiration.
