TED 104-17 monopole (post) miniature ADS-B 978 MHz UAT antenna

NEW in factory-sealed bag with all mounting hardware and sealing gasket!

TED's newest Made-in-USA offering optimized for 978 MHz ADS-B operation. Perfect for either UAT, or ADS-B 'IN' usage with a portable receiver. This antenna can be used for both transmit or receive on 978 MHz! It is not intended for transponder, DME, or 1090 MHz ADS-B use, for which TED's 104-12 is recommended instead, which I also sell.

Specs:

Insulator: Annealed Teflon (superior)
Rod: Nickel-plated brass

Connector type: BNC female (most common) with gold center pin

Impedance: 50 ohm

VSWR: 1.2:1 (very power efficient) over 978 MHz band

Max airspeed: 250 KIAS

Frequency: Covers aviation UAT 978 MHz ADS-B band

Need more than one? Quantity discounts?

I keep hundreds of antennas in stock to meet your quantity needs. I will offer discounts for 2 antennas or above--please contact me for details prior to bidding or buying.

Other features:

The dielectric (insulating) material extends out of the connector body for easier cleaning and lower loss, plus it is Teflon!  Works great to replace that antenna that has been bent one too many times, or has gotten too dirty to clean. Or, an older antenna where the dielectric material has started to break down, causing high losses. This antenna is made in the USA.

Compatibility Questions?

Guaranteed compatible with all 978 MHz UAT ADS-B receivers and transmitters where the cable from the ADS-B unit ends in the common male BNC connector. This antenna fits in place of most previous monopole rod antenna installations with no modification. Contact me and your A&P or avionics shop for suggestions on mounting to composite or fabric-covered aircraft, for best coverage. I'll take any other application questions as well!

Installation tool now available:

I now have a loaner punch tool available in the US for making perfect clean 1/2 inch holes on an aluminum-skinned aircraft, or to assist in making a ground plane disk hole for fabric or composite aircraft. This offer is available to US domestic buyers only. Subject to deposit and tool availability. Contact me for details. I will also refer buyers to suitable punch tools currently on ebay auction, on request.

I also have cables and connectors!

Please see my other aviation-related auctions!

Need it quick?

Caught on the ground in Class B airspace with a broken antenna? If your need is urgent, I will also ship overnight via your choice of carriers! I'm a pilot too, and understand what it is like being trapped on the ground for a part failure.

Feedback Policy:

Please--if there is a problem or complaint, tell me so I can try to rectify the problem first! I strive for 5 star performance and a positive buyer experience. If you don't feel comfortable rating me a 5 across the board, please let me know why and give me a chance to fix any issues. Feedback affects my ability to provide affordable antennas more than you might think!

US Shipping and Terms:

Payment by Paypal--if this is not acceptable for you, please contact me to suggest what approved method meets your needs. I recommend USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation, which I ship using a box not a padded envelope, which gets most everywhere in the US within two days. Contact me if you need special shipping arrangements not listed here. I usually ship no later than the next business day, and sometimes even same-day after payment clearance.

International Shipping:

International Buyers – Please Note:

I ship approximately 20 percent of my antennas internationally!

Concept Car of the Week: Pininfarina CNR-PF (1978)

Fri, 12 Oct 2012

In the 1970s alarm bells were ringing in the energy sector as a series of energy crises and rising fuel prices spiralled. The car industry was forced to produce a new generation of more efficient cars and designers were putting new models through wind tunnels to optimize their aerodynamic performance to reduce aerodynamic drag. Some pushed the limits further than others and none more so than Pininfarina, which designed a car that slipped through the air twice as efficiently than any other.

One Lap of the Web: preservation-class edition

-- This video about a preserved Volkswagen dealership in Brazil is in Portuguese, and even if you don't know Portuguese, it will still make sense to you if you're a car person. (Or, you can activate the English subtitles on YouTube, as it's an interesting story.) -- What's the best truck for scaling vertical surfaces? That's right, it's the Unimog, and this week there's a 1965 example (that would be the oval-faced version) on the eBays with a rather realistic Buy it Now price.

First Fisker Karma in the UK auctioned for £140k

Thu, 13 Oct 2011

First Fisker Karma in the UK auctioned for charity The extended range Fisker Karma arrived at last year’s Paris motor show, and now the very first Karma to arrive in the UK has been auctioned in aid of charity and raised a bid of £140,000 at the Pratham UK Gala held at Camden’s Roundhouse. The altruism demonstrated by offering appealing cars for charity auctions is to be commended, especially from a young - and relatively impoverished - outfit like Henrik Fisker’s eponymous company. Yes, there’s a bit of publicity to be garnered for the Karma, but good on Henrik for offering up the first Karma to charity.
