Th400 Cast Alumnum Intermdiate Clutch Piston on 2040-parts.com
Holtsville, New York, United States
Identify the type of intermediate clutch piston in your TH400 during overhaul. It will be either cast aluminum or stamped steel. Beginning in 1974, GM introduced the stamped steel piston as a cost saving method for most models. After repeat failures it use was discontinued in 1987. The use of the stamped steel piston is less than ideal for any heavy duty or high performance usage. With increased line pressure, it suffers from bowing, bending, deflection and a compromised work surface area where the piston acts on the intermediate clutch pack. This reduces the clutch pack torque capacity, creating performance and durability concerns. Note the narrow work surface of the steel piston compared to the wide work surface of the aluminum type. Simply swapping out the steel piston for this obsolete OEM cast aluminum type will vastly improve intermediate clutch pack torque capacity in all applications. Citroen C1 gets insurance ‘Black Box’ as standard. Orwellian control arrives.
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Citroen has announced that the C1 Connexion will now come with a Telematics ‘Black Box’ as standard fitting as Big Brother moves closer. As if it wasn’t enough that every street corner, business and park now has at least one CCTV camera, that we’re prosecuted for ‘speeding’ by yellow boxes on poles that take no account of road conditions or circumstances and that motorists are being milked dry by ‘stupid’ box junction and red light cameras, now Citroen are to fit a telematics ‘Black Box’ as standard to its C1 Connexion. Citroen say the ‘Black Box’ fitting is so they can offer free insurance to buyers, with anyone from 19-75 getting a year’s free insurance with every C1 as long as they have at least two years no claims bonus.
