QUICK OVERVIEW OF THE BOOK

Most of this book is devoted to the road-going Porsches - beginning with the original 356 Series, conceived as merely as a sports versions of Dr. Porsche's long-dreamed-of "people's car," but destined to be a giant-killer on road and track alike. The 911 Series is also covered.

From there it moves on to air-cooled rear engines. Separate chapters cover: the 914, 924, and 944 Series. Also profiled are the V-8-powered 928 Series, the newest 911s and the 200mph 959.

The book highlights the earliest 356 racers and proceeding to the ultra-tech 962 and Porsche's first Indianapolis car. Last but not least is a look a Porsche's troubled present and prospects for the future.

There are scores of historical photographs from the Porsche company files in Zuffenhausen, West Germany - plus colour portraits of original and restored Porsches of all types commissioned especially for this book.
