If all those apply – and you already appreciate the Volvo V60 is a very good car to start with – then the V60 plug-in hybrid is a bit of a no-brainer, even with a headline price of nearly £50k (which gets within £6k of an equivalent non plug-in after the taxpayer has chipped in). Audi has only just launched the 2012 A4 Allroad – which is on show at the Detroit Auto Show as we write – but they’ve already got its big brother ready to show – the 2013 Audi A6 Allroad. Audi has taken the usual Allroad recipe for the A6 by taking the basics of the A6 Avant and making it rufty-tufy and ready for the urban jungle.

Subaru has revealed teasing shots of the new BRZ STi.
