I bought these heads about 20 years ago. At that time I was told there were casting marks in the heads. I have highlighted these with black marker. These are hairline flaws that very well may be cracks. I have never put these heads on a running motor, so I don't know if they are casting flaws as I was told or hairline cracks. You be the judge, either way, these are some of the rarest heads you will find for a 24 stud flathead motor. The marker also shows areas around the water jackets where corrosion has taken place and where the jackets are nearly perfect. The spark plug threads are not stripped, as well as, the head covers mounting boss threads. My intention was to put these on a mock display motor showcasing some of my speed equipment collection. VW, Audi cars recalled to fix fuel-injection system defect
Thu, 06 Oct 2011Volkswagen AG is recalling 168,275 VW and Audi models with diesel engines because of a defect in the fuel injection system that could cause fuel leaks, possibly creating fire hazards. The recall affects certain 2009-12 Jetta mid-sized sedans and wagons, and some 2010-12 Golf compacts, federal regulators said Thursday. Some 2010-2012 Audi A3 models also are affected, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its Web site.
