Mon, 15 Sep 2008From 11-15 August over 28,000 artists, research scientists, developers, filmmakers, and academics from around the world gathered in Los Angeles for the 35th Siggraph Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques. The Siggraph conference includes courses and technical paper presentations, new technologies demos, an art gallery, computer animation festival, and an exhibition by software and hardware vendors. While the New Tech Demos and the technical programs are focussed on technologies that designers will have to wait several years for, several automotive software and hardware suppliers announced new shipping products at Siggraph.
'Paradox' in transport policy claim
Tue, 26 Nov 2013THERE IS A "paradox at the heart" of the Government's roads programme, a transport policy professor has told MPs. The question on whether traffic levels would increase or decrease in the future was unresolved, University College London emeritus professor of transport policy Phil Goodwin told the House of Commons Transport Committee. The paradox was that if traffic levels increased the planned roads programme was "not big enough to make an improvement", he said.

Thu, 15 May 2014MORE LONDONERS are taking the bus than at any time since 1959 - with more than 2.4 billion trips made in the capital in the past year. The growing popularity of London's iconic red double-deckers comes after Mayor Boris Johnson introduced a fleet of newly revamped Routemasters. The number of buses travelling along the capital's roads reached a 60-year high on April 29, when 7,961 buses were on the streets - the highest number since 1953, according to Transport for London.
