What Car? True MPG reveals most fuel-efficient cars

We’ve known for a while that there’s a huge gulf between the official fuel economy figures for new cars and what drivers achieve in the real world. What Car? says that its True MPG tests provide a more realistic figure and over the past two years it has tested almost 400 cars. Now, it has revealed which 10 cars proved most efficient its True MPG tests, so if you’re hoping to spend less at the fuel pumps, these cars could be well worth a look.

Land Rover has released pictures of the new Freelander (LR2), due to be launched at the British Motor Show in July. Harder edged than its predecessor, the chiselled exterior has simpler surfaces that update the same overall styling theme. The profile of the new car is more dynamic, borrowing cues from Range Rover Sport, though the stepped roofline has been diluted.

Audi is set to reveal an all-new SUV concept car based on the Audi TT at the Beijing Motor Show. The new Audi concept will be the second time the brand has floated the idea of a TT-style SUV this year, following the unveiling of the Audi Allroad Shooting Brake show car at January’s Detroit Motor Show. The new Audi SUV concept will have more of an ‘off-roader’ feel than the Shooting Brake, and so will take its styling cues from the Audi Q-model SUVs, as these images show.
