Brand New in Box Tokico rear shocks, PAIR 1968 - 1969 Chevrolet, Camaro Pontaic, Firebird (All Trims) HE2550 Notes: rear pair A-frame hole may need to be enlarged w/multi leaf rear spring Tokico non adjustable shocks & struts. Conventional shock absorbers are among the simplest and oldest of shock designs. They are common on many trucks, older cars, and a few newer cars. They are also one of the least expensive shocks. Struts are units that combine the shock absorber with a stressed part of the suspension. The struts allows auto manufacturers to eliminate the upper control arm and upper ball joint. They use a large diameter piston rod and are quite a bit larger and heavier than conventional shock absorbers. Most struts also combine the lower spring perch or seat into their construction. Strut cartridges were developed as replacements for rebuildable struts. While they are still being used, most newer cars use what are called sealed or non-rebuildable struts. Also fits 1972-79 Ford T-Bird, Ranchero, Torino

UK Car Scrappage scheme gets green light?

Tue, 14 Apr 2009

Mandy said NO to scrappage, but it looks like Alistair Darling will introduce a scheme in the next budget [ad#ad-1] After much to-ing and fro-ing, it has been claimed by most of the UK national press over the weekend that a UK version of the Car Scrappage Scheme will be introduced in the budget by Alistair Darling. The scheme aims to offer new car buyers a guaranteed trade-in against a new, cleaner car of £2,000. But it is being suggested that the Government will insist that car manufacturers chip in half this money, with the tax payer paying the other half.

VW Passat: New distance world record

Mon, 04 Oct 2010

VW Passat World distance Record When you as old as I am (or at least as old as I feel) you can’t help but be astonished at the feats of economy car makers seem able to wring from even quite serious, upmarket cars. Yesterday we reported on the Mercedes S250 CDI which manages to perform like a 1990s V8 S-Class whilst simultaneously doing nearly 50mpg. Which to an old git like me – who thought his 3.0 litre Capri in his teen years was doing well if it got 18mpg – is a bit hard to acccept.

How safe are new minicars?

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently tested a total of 11 minicars in its relatively new small-overlap crash test, and the Chevrolet Spark was the only one to earn an Acceptable rating. The small-overlap crash test was instituted in 2012 with the goal of better replicating real-life car crashes, most of which don't follow the pattern of traditional government crash tests. Instead of a car hitting a stationary object with 100 percent of its front making contact, the small-overlap test examines how a car behaves in a frontal impact at 40 mph where only a quarter of the car's front hits an object.
