This kit (specifically for retrofitting 1960-1965 727 & 904) enables “part-throttle kickdown” (“passing gear”, DRIVE back to SECOND) without having to depress the gas pedal all the way to the floor. 3-2 kickdown will occur at aprox. ¾ throttle (instead of full-throttle). There is no effect on 2-1 kickdown. Nice feature to have particularly with multiple-carburetor applications, i.e. Six-Packs, dual four barrels, etc. as it allows kickdown (to second gear) without fully opening the carburetors. Kit consists of the part-throttle accessory + 1968 727-904 bare/empty UPPER casting which has the port (pink arrow in picture) to actuate the part-throttle accessory. Purchaser to transfer internal & exterior parts from their 1960-65 upper casting into the supplied 1968 upper casting. Two special button-head screws are supplied to address clearance when installing the part-throttle accessory on the 1960-1965 valve body lower casting/separator plate assembly; also included is installation information. Ford testing self-parking cars – with or without a driver It seems we’re heading to the point where cars can do more and more for the driver, and fully autonomous cars seem to be less than a decade away. On the way to the fully autonomous car, car makers will be offering stages on the way as the ability of cars to be self-controlling moves along, and Ford are heading in that direction with their new systems for parking and obstacle avoidance. Ford are running prototypes with Fully Assisted Parking, a system that manages to sense a space, control the steering, gearbox and brakes to park the car at the touch of a button, even if the driver isn’t actually in the car.
