Opel and Auto Design and Styling magazine launch new sketch contest
Wed, 08 May 2013Opel and Auto Design and Styling magazine have joined forces to launch the ‘Adam Seeks Eve' sketch competition. The competition, which is open to amateur and professional designers of all ages, asks participants to "sketch the ideal car partner for the Opel Adam." Designs can be a personalized Adam, a model inspired by it, or its next iteration. The winner will be awarded a free ticket to the AutoDesign Prague Automotive Design Conference and the AutoDesign Prague Workshop as well as being lent an Adam for a week.
Merc to revive straight six, plus 4cyl and smaller V8s
Tue, 25 Oct 2011Mercedes has just signed off a new engine family which will see most full-sized Mercs in future run four-cylinders, downsized V8s and… straight sixes. A friendly Mercedes engineer recently met CAR to disclose the engine plans for future models, including the surprise disclosure that Merc plans to switch to straight sixes, like its rivals over in Munich. It's fair to say I almost choked on my breakfast croissant when I found out the details of the next MB engine generation which has just been signed off for release in 2015. Winners of Australia's 2011 Target 2030 design competition revealed
Wed, 13 Jul 2011The winners of the 2011 Target 2030 ‘Design the Car of the Future' competition have been announced. The Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC) presented the winners of the Australian design competition with their Target 2030 Plaque and winner's check at a presentation ceremony at the Australian International Motor Show at the Melbourne Exhibition Center. There were three categories within the competition: model-making, design and essay.
