I have been looking for a convertible mesh jacket that would be warm enough for cool morinings, but that I could wear home from work when the temperature is above 90°F (it can get into the 100's here). I bought a Harley jacket, but was disappointed in the amount of venting and the overall fit. The Tourmaster jacket is sized great. Good around the chest and arm length (I somtimes have trouble finding a jacket that fits me in those two areas). Another thing that I really like is that instead of having a zip out portion of the outer shell, the whole outer shell comes off to reveal the inner mesh jacket. 2 jackets in one. It also has a zip out nylon lining that adds extra warmth on a cool day (I haven't tried it on a really cold morning yet). When taking apart the inner mesh and outer shell, there are three main zippers; one at each sleeve cuff and one at the neck. This is a nicer feature than the Joe Rocket Alter-Ego jacket or the Bracket jacket from Harley. Both the inner and outer jacket have both inside pockets and outer hand pockets (so when you convert to the mesh only jacket you don't have to give up pockets). Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of the materials and the overall design of the jacket.

New Volvo V40 & Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid Goodwood Festival of Speed debut

Mon, 25 Jun 2012

The new Volvo V40 and the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid will get their UK debut at the Moving Motor Show at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Volvo have been on something of a roll since the Chinese took the reins, and are starting to look like they’re capable of moving from the no man’s land between mainstream and premium in to proper premium car territory. The new Volvo that jumps out as capable of taking on BMW and Mercedes is the new Volvo V40, a very stylish and appealing package that looks like it will be able to hold its own against the new A Class and 1 Series.

NASCAR: Rule changes to be clarified

Mon, 24 Jan 2011

The 29th annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Media Tour opens on Monday in the Charlotte, N.C., area. It's a four-day smorgasbord of announcements, team-shop tours, optimistic predictions and the unveiling of new race-car paint schemes, team members and sponsorships. More than 150 writers, broadcasters and photographers will get a steady diet of claims such as “we're excited,” “we've been working harder than ever,” “we feel we've got everything in place” and “we can't wait to get started.” The tour will visit almost every team that plans to run the full series schedule in 2011, teams such as Earnhardt-Ganassi, Stewart-Haas, Penske, Michael Waltrip, Richard Childress, Kevin Buckler's TRG, Team Red Bull, Furniture Row, Richard Petty, Hendrick, Roush-Fenway and Joe Gibbs.

Travis Pastrana canes the Global RallyCross Dodge Dart: Video

Wed, 04 Apr 2012

While Erik Carlsson showed the world that lunacy had an appropriate place in rallying—they didn't call him "Carlsson on the Roof" for nothing—it took Ken Block's marketing savvy and the paste-it-anywhere-and-watch ubiquity of YouTube to get a broad swath of American kids amped on the antic fun that can be had with an all-terrain compact car. In a bid to get that same group excited about the new Dodge Dart, Chrysler enlisted Travis Pastrana to pilot its Global RallyCross entry. And in a sort of low-budget, less-elaborate version of Block's wacky-upon-zany Gymkhana videos, Pastrana puts the Dart through its paces, losing the passenger-side rear corner of the bodywork in the process.
