McLaren 650S Spider (2014) first official pictures
Tue, 04 Mar 2014By Ollie Kew First Official Pictures 04 March 2014 12:00 This is the convertible version of the McLaren 650S: the 650S Spider. Given how closely the 650S coupe is based upon the 12C, it’s no surprise to see the 650S Spider looking very much like a 12C: same folding hard-top roof, same 40kg weight penalty, same boasts by McLaren that the carbon tub needs no extra reinforcing for its role in a cabriolet. Though the 650S Spider is 40kg heavier than the hard-top and has some of its P1-echoing aerodynamic talent spoiled by chopping the top off, it’s still a very fast piece of kit.
Audi R8 Spyder – Frankfurt catchup +video
Sat, 19 Sep 2009The unveiling of the Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI quattro at Frankfurt As we already know from previous reports, the Audi R8 Spyder comes equipped with just one engine option – the 5.2 litre V10 FSI. Which makes a lot of sense. The additional weight the convertible conversion has added – a not insignificant 476 lbs – would have had far more effect on the V8 than it does on the V10.
New Jaguar XJ – best photo yet
Thu, 16 Apr 2009The best picture yet of the new Jaguar XJ - due to be revealed in July Due to be shown officially in July, before a full presentation at Frankfurt in September, the new Jaguar XJ is designed to take the fight to BMW, Audi and Mercedes. And if how it looks is anything to go by Jaguar will have another big success on its hands, to go along with the XF. Although based on the existing XJ’s lightweight chassis (nothing wrong with that) but with a back end which is very much derived from the XF, the car is totally re-skinned, and looks finally how a modern Jaguar luxury saloon should.
