Kia going rear drive
Mon, 14 Oct 2013Kia told its dealers it will launch a new full-size rear-wheel-drive flagship sedan in the U.S., and it is expected to be in showrooms here early next year. Kia's first-ever U.S. RWD production sedan will be called the K900 and is the same vehicle sold as the K9 in South Korea and as the Quoris in other overseas markets.
‘GEN Y 2012 – Express Yourself’ contest launched
Thu, 23 Feb 2012Liberty Electric Cars has launched a competition for design students calling for ideas for a revolutionary ‘Car of the Year' 2020. The company, which specializes in electric vehicle (EV) drivetrain technologies for multiple vehicle platforms, has asked for students to create a revolutionary electric vehicle for its ‘GEN Y 2012 – Express Yourself' contest. The design must be targeted for Generation Y (between 18 and 29 years old), with the brief stating that the vehicle "should be iconic in shape and allow the user to express their own personality." The vehicle should also "become a fashion item, fun to drive and should use innovative technologies and materials that can be easily configured according to the driver's requirements." The contest is open for students enrolled in a college or university-level design program, either in transportation, product or fashion design, engineering or architecture.
Toyota's Origami-inspired Geneva motor show stand
Wed, 20 Feb 2013Toyota will premiere its new, origami-inspired global stand design at the upcoming Geneva motor show. The new design, dubbed ‘The Wave', is inspired by the traditional Japanese craft, previewed by this paper maquette. The stand will use curves to convey simplicity and "strength and vibrancy, and at the same time warmth and familiarity", according to Toyota.
