The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has reached fever pitch - your Facebook feed is probably as inundated as the ice-cold victims - but allow us to serve up a selection of the best drenchings from the world of Formula 1. We’ve gathered together some of the best Ice Bucket Challenges from the pitlane, featuring such luminaries as Lewis Hamilton, the Red Bull team and even the BBC F1 commentary squad. It makes for pretty compelling viewing: and if anyone can afford to be generous with their donations it’s the mega-money world of top-flight motorsport.

BMW Concept Coupe

BMW unveiled their latest concept in the run up to the contemporary Mille Miglia, a road race for cars that competed during the original event held between 1933 and 1957. The BMW 328 that set the fastest time in 1940, averaging over 100mph, has also provided inspiration for the Coupe Concept, which mixes the older car's silhouette with surfaces closer to the Z4 on which it is based. Powered by BMW's seminal 343PS engine, the car is wrapped with carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), whose form is defined by designers using plaster rather than clay "for a closer emotional experience".

Vauxhall Vectra renamed as Insignia

By Motor Industry 03 December 2007 09:46 Vauxhall has renamed its Vectra replacement, and like we all thought, it's going to be called Insignia. According to Vauxhall the Insignia name represents 'a new name for a new era', and we'll see if Vauxhall is telling the truth when the covers come off the new car at the British Motor Show in July 2008. It's a big claim for Vauxhall, but the teaser shot (above right) shows that at least Vauxhall seems to have gotten the design of the Insignia right.
