Car April Fool Stuff: From Chips Away to BMW

Chips Away’s new APP removes dents in cars The car news on April 1st always includes a chunk of April Fools, and this year is no different with some good, some bad and some quite lame. The people that take the everyday knocks out of your car at home – Chips Away – have come up with a DentsAway App – in conjunction with ALA – that will uses a Smartphone’s electro-magnetic pulses to ionise the metal on a car dent and pull it back in to shape. Chips Away and ALA have used their April 1st announcement as the chance for a giveway, with three winners getting a pair of tickets for the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year if they share the video (below) on Facebook or Twitter.

Michelin Challenge Design - Deadline for entries April 16

You Can Design America's Next Iconic Vehicle Michelin Challenge Design - the global transportation design competition in its ninth year - is looking for America's next iconic vehicle.  Submissions for the 2009 program will be accepted through April 16, 2008. The winning designs will be evaluated for their uniqueness, emotional appeal, design courage and technical execution by a jury of automotive design professionals and receive prominent display in the MCD exhibit at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. Mullin Museum 'opens,' still no public date

The Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, Calif., "opened" Thursday night with a gala Art Deco affair that did splendid justice to the beautiful cars, photos and furniture inside. Models dressed in period costume with period 'dos draped themselves over what are arguably the world's most beautiful Bugattis, Delages, Delahayes, Talbot-Lagos, Voisins and Hispano-Suizas. Similarly clad guests strolled about the perfect period decor, perfect right down to the Art Deco pillars holding up the ecologically friendly roof.
