Willie Garner, the founder of Trans-Dapt Performance, began his fledgling company manufacturing and selling transmission adapters out of his garage. Mr. Garner became so well known for his quality adapters, it wasn't long before he hired a "right hand man" to do the manufacturing, while Willie went out on the road, selling his product. With Willie's philosophy of providing a wide selection of quality products at a fair price, Trans-Dapt soon became THE company to call, whenever you needed a transmission, carburetor or oil filter adapter, and within just 4 years, the two man shop in a garage was filling up 40,000 square feet of office, warehouse and manufacturing space. In 2009, that will be 50 years ago... Today, Trans-Dapt Performance Products, which is now part of the Hedman group of performance companies, resides in a 100,000 square foot facility using the latest in CNC machining and CAD design to ensure that Willie Garner's philosophy of providing quality performance parts is not compromised. Ford creates ‘driver workload estimator’ to reduce driver distraction
Tue, 10 Jul 2012Ford researchers have created a ‘driver workload estimator’ help reduce driver distraction by filtering infotainment and communication distractions. Researchers at Ford are working on a system that would use information submitted by the vehicle and the driver's body to prioritize what information can be displayed and at what time. With the ever-increasing demand for advanced infotainment systems, the chance of driver distraction has also risen as more displays and controls are integrated into the latest models.
Opel and Auto Design and Styling magazine launch new sketch contest
Wed, 08 May 2013Opel and Auto Design and Styling magazine have joined forces to launch the ‘Adam Seeks Eve' sketch competition. The competition, which is open to amateur and professional designers of all ages, asks participants to "sketch the ideal car partner for the Opel Adam." Designs can be a personalized Adam, a model inspired by it, or its next iteration. The winner will be awarded a free ticket to the AutoDesign Prague Automotive Design Conference and the AutoDesign Prague Workshop as well as being lent an Adam for a week.
College Exhibition: Pforzheim University Summer Degree Show 2006
Fri, 22 Sep 2006Transportation Design students at Germany's Pforzheim University displayed their work in the school's summer degree show held in July, one of two graduation shows per year. The show was held in conjunction with the International Transportation Design Forum 2006, alongside work from six other international design schools. The exhibition included work from graduating Diploma and Masters students, exterior and interior projects by the 5th and 7th semester students, as well as work from students in the earlier stages of the Diploma and Masters courses.
