Willie Garner, the founder of Trans-Dapt Performance, began his fledgling company manufacturing and selling transmission adapters out of his garage. Mr. Garner became so well known for his quality adapters, it wasn't long before he hired a "right hand man" to do the manufacturing, while Willie went out on the road, selling his product. With Willie's philosophy of providing a wide selection of quality products at a fair price, Trans-Dapt soon became THE company to call, whenever you needed a transmission, carburetor or oil filter adapter, and within just 4 years, the two man shop in a garage was filling up 40,000 square feet of office, warehouse and manufacturing space. In 2009, that will be 50 years ago... Today, Trans-Dapt Performance Products, which is now part of the Hedman group of performance companies, resides in a 100,000 square foot facility using the latest in CNC machining and CAD design to ensure that Willie Garner's philosophy of providing quality performance parts is not compromised. Retracing Steve McQueen's Los Angeles in his Jaguar XKSS
Mon, 21 Apr 2014In 1958, Steve McQueen bought this Jaguar XKSS from a local TV personality who kept it parked in a studio lot on Sunset Boulevard. McQueen cajoled his wife Nellie into writing a check for $5,000 -- today around $40,000 -- and became the third owner of XKSS chassis No. 713, a car that had originally been imported a year earlier by Jaguar North America.
CAR sets new hybrid speed world record in Infiniti M35h
Tue, 20 Sep 2011Infiniti M35h Hybrid (2011) long-term test review CAR Magazine has set a new Guinness World Record for an acceleration run in a hybrid car. Associate editor Tim Pollard drove an Infiniti M35h hybrid to record a 13.9sec time over the standing quarter mile - as quick as a Lamborghini Countach would've been in the 1980s. On the way to the fully autonomous car, car makers will be offering stages on the way as the ability of cars to be self-controlling moves along, and Ford are heading in that direction with their new systems for parking and obstacle avoidance. Ford are running prototypes with Fully Assisted Parking, a system that manages to sense a space, control the steering, gearbox and brakes to park the car at the touch of a button, even if the driver isn’t actually in the car.
